The Founders Trail and the ORSA Convention Adelaide 2026.

I was first approached by David Mawhinney two years ago who asked if we’d present the Founders Story at the ORSA convention in Adelaide, I’ll be honest and to my eternal shame I took his approach with a large pinch of salt.

David then emailed me and before we knew it plans were being put in place.

We flew out to Adelaide from Glasgow on the 21st February and after an unexpected 24 hour lay over in Dubai where we had the pleasure of meeting The Dubai Loyal RSC, we were met at Adelaide Airport by David and his son Scott.

After a couple of days settling in the convention events started with a visit to three local wineries which was a cracking day out.

On the Friday we had the honour and pleasure of presenting the Founders Story at the Elephant British Pub for the Aussie bears ,this was an incredible experience with Rangers players John Brown, Ian Ferguson, Lorenzo Amoruso and Davie Mitchell all in attendance, all were very complimentary on our presentation, thanks again guys. To mingle and chat with the players over the weekend was surreal.

On the Friday night I was asked to host a Q and A event with the players which i’d never done before but it was an absolute joy, not only interviewing the players but assisting our hosts. All of the players told brilliant stories of their Rangers careers and were a credit to our Club.

On to the Saturday night and the Dinner Dance at the Adelaide Oval which was an incredible setting for the event. Bomber had everyone captivated with stories from his time with Rangers, by this point Gary Stevens who was great company had joined us. The food and refreshments on the night were top class. The Sunday was the farewell drinks event which brought to an end a weekend that will live with us for the rest of our lives.

Due to the situation in the Middle East our stay in Adelaide was extended by another six days but believe me there are a lot worse and colder places on earth to be stuck!

Last Saturday afternoon Mark and Julie took us over to their house for a get together with other members of the John Brown Loyal, they wined and dined us all day long, what a wonderful gesture from extra special people. We sat with our own and laughed all day as we recalled days gone past.

We have just had the trip of a lifetime that will live with us forever,we were treated like royalty( which we aren’t) the welcome and hospitality we received will never be forgotten.

The John Brown Loyal RSC Adelaide pulled together a seamless convention and you should all be extremely proud of what you achieved.

We will be back. Love to you all.

WATP.

Iain, Angie, Gordon and Pam.
