The Restoration of Rangers Graves Project and the Kirkintilloch Ibrox Disaster Memorial Bench.

In 2011 a memorial bench was placed in the Auld Aisle cemetery Kirkintilloch dedicated to the four boys who didn’t return home from Ibrox on the 2nd January 1971.

Recently over a pint in the Kirkie Rangers Club Harry Carrigan,brother of Robert,told me that he regularly cleaned the bench but that it was starting to show its age,I told him that we had a couple of Bears Chris Beglin and Alex Forsyth who’ve restored and taken care of the Ibrox disaster memorial benches dedicated to the Markinch Boys in Fife and Margaret Ferguson in Muiravonside cemetery.

Chris duly took the bench away,the guys got to work on it and we’re delighted to say that it was put back in place yesterday afternoon good as new.

Chris and Alex have again refused to taken a penny from the Restoration fund for this fantastic work and we thank them both sincerely.
